What is Posting?

Post(ing) refers to finalizing an order. Post is the last, ending status of an order. For example, a receive order is first created. It then has a status of “Open” (which is seen in “Status” column on the grid of the list of all orders). Then it’s received. Last, the received orders will then need to be posted.

Post is designed to be a last step to finishing orders. This is designed for an extra buffer against mistakes or last minute changes. For example, it’s easier to reverse orders such as to correct mistakes or cancel orders if you have yet posted.

Additionally, the action of posting an order is the point of integration syncing. Data is not transferred from Flowtrac to other integration applications until posting in Flowtrac.

Only your company users with access to posting can post. You cannot post using the mobile app. This must be done with your desktop or laptop.

Note: Post will be in a separate place in the system from where you look up all orders, so you don’t have to worry about accidentally posting an order that has an open or otherwise incomplete status currently.

To Post an Order

  1. MENU->(what type of Order; e.g., RECEIVE, PICK, PO, SALES ORDERS, TRANSFER, WORK)->POST
  2. This will bring up the posting screen. You will only see orders that have been finished thus ready for posting.
  3. Use the checkboxes to select which orders you would like to post.
  4. Click the “Post” button at the bottom of the window. This order will disappear from the grid.

Tips!

-You can check if an order has posted by going to the orders grid and looking in the “Status” column. Orders that are posted will have the status of “Posted”. You can search only posted items by filtering on this column using the field at the top of the column, such as simply typing on “post” or even “p” and hitting enter. You can also simultaneously filter in other columns.

-Quick picks, receives, and transfers do not required the post step. That is another reason these actions are deemed quick. Consider what circumstances revolve around the movements of your inventory to determine which path to take, either creating and posting orders, or using the “Quick” option that does not use orders.
